Schumpeter School EconLab

The Schumpeter School EconLab is an experimental laboratory for economic research at the Schumpeter School of Economics and Business at the University of Wuppertal. Experimentally, we investigate the decision making of humans, to gain scientific insights and refine economic theories.

We closely integrate this experimental research with our teaching, to present our students with the newest insights and current research methods. In our lecture and seminars on experimental economics, we invite students to explore behavioral economics research themselves and work hands on with (anonymized) data. If you are interested in writing your thesis on these topics, please reach out to us.

Participate now

You will be paid for your participation. All students at the University of Wuppertal are eligible to participate in the experiments, regardless of their field of study. Only doctoral students are excluded from participation for scientific reasons. Generally, no specialized knowledge or prior experience is required to participate. All data will, of course, be treated strictly confidentially.

What are experiments?

The experiments carried out in our experimental laboratory generally serve to better understand how people make decisions. The results of these experiments are intended to contribute to economic theorising as well as to the further development of experimental economic research. In our laboratory experiments, participants therefore make decisions under controlled conditions. Participants receive money for their participation, whereby the amount of payment also depends on the decisions made in the experiment. We give detailed explanations on the tasks and how your payment depends on these decisions; no prior knowledge is required to participate. In addition to experiments in the laboratory, we also carry out internet experiments.
